Santa's Beard

Santa's beard and mustache were constructed from an animal hair (possibly goat) and the hairs were attached to a synthetic backer. The beard was formed in a hollow round shape and stuffed with a foam material. The foam has since decayed. When discoved both beard and mustache looked the color of the mustache piece in this pic. You can see how well the hair responded to the clean-up that was done. New and better stuffing was added to the beard to keep the original shape. The other half of the mustache was lost many years ago, so the restored Santa will have a new right side mustache, but the left will be a cleaned original! Soon we will show pics of the whole face put back together to see if you can tell the difference from left to right!
